The latest Work Zone has been opened in Chester, based at the Blue Coat Centre in Northgate Street.

Work Zones first opened in February 2013, starting in Ellesmere Port, soon followed by Northwich and Winsford.

They were designed to provide all the support someone would need to help them get back into work under one roof. Work Zones work with a range of partners, including Job Centre Plus, local employers and local training providers to provide that holistic support package.

Cllr Brian Clarke, Cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure, said: “The Work Zone is here to help anyone who is looking for a job but we specifically focus on those who have been out of work for a long time and are having difficulties securing employment.

“We have a skilled team who will work with individuals over time, building their skills and confidence and working in partnership with local employers to provide the support needed to successfully move and stay in work.”

Since 2013, 4,187 customers have been registered in the Cheshire Work Zones, they have successfully supported 1,444 people into jobs to date with the figure increasing year on year.

The Blue Coat Centre is managed by Chester Municipal Charities and home to a range of partners for the Work Zone such as CAB, Chester CVS, Chester Aid to the Homeless and West Cheshire College.
