The Met Office has kept in force a snow and wind warning for Cheshire West and Chester.

On Friday evening there were reports of a dusting of snow across the city and surrounding areas.

Hannah Kelly, a student at Chester University, shared her back yard at the Parkgate Campus getting a mix of snow and hail as temperatures plummeted.

Strong winds are also expected throughout Saturday with gusts of up to 60mph in places.

Temperatures will drop to just above freezing overnight but the Met Office say from 3pm onwards it will be a pleasant, if cold, evening in Chester and the surrounding areas.

Public Health England has listed Cheshire as one of the areas included in its cold weather warning .
