Works on Boughton’s A51 in Chester resulting from the Waitrose development will finish a week early as overnight closures are brought in next week.

Throughout Friday, October 10 and Monday, October 13 contractors will be preparing the A51 from the junction with Hoole Lane to The Bars for finished surfacing works.

Traffic management will ensure that at least one lane inbound and outbound will be maintained at all times during this time.

Night work and road closure to apply the finished surfacing will begin on Monday, October 13 between the hours of 8pm and 6am for a maximum of five days.

A diversion route will be in place on both nights - the first night closing the outbound lane of the A51 and the second the inbound lane:

Phase 1 - Eastbound closed (out of city centre) - Monday, October 13: A5268 St Oswalds Way; Hoole Way; A56 Hoole Road; A41 Ring Road; Vicars Cross Road; Tarvin Road; Challinor Street; Christleton Road.

Phase 2 - Westbound closed (into city centre) - Tuesday October 14: A51 Tarvin Road; Vicars Cross Road; A41 Ring Road; A56 Hoole Road; Hoole Way; A5268 St Oswald’s Way.

Full access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times during the works and noise and disruption kept down to a minimum.
