Chester has declared that Britain is better together after rejecting calls for an independent Scotland.
Our online poll has been running all week and had been showing a majority in favour of independence for much of that time.
But a late surge from No voters on the day of the official poll in Scotland resulted in Chester readers of The Chronicle website closely reflecting the actual vote itself with 53% in favour of preserving the United Kingdom.
The news will be particularly welcome in the Chester village of Mollington.
The community set up its own Stay Together campaign with a display of Scottish flags flying alongside the Union Jack.
Campaign coordinator Fiona Young said: "The ordinary people of England, Wales and Northern Ireland are proud to be in the United Kingdom with the people of Scotland and want Scotland to stay.”
