This week it’s English Tourism Week and we have been trawling Twitter and investigating Instagram to see what visitors to Chester photograph most in our city.

Chris Boothman is originally from Manchester but now lives in Arkansas, USA, with his wife Heather.

They run a blog called A Brit and a Southerner (abritandasoutherner.com) in which Chris writes: “Chester was the first place that we stopped on our month-long journey. One thing that we could tell right away was how amazing Chester was going to be and we hadn’t even jumped out of the car at this point.

“The air was crisp and fresh, the wind was blowing just enough to make strolling the streets a memorable moment.

“As we walked down Chester Rows, the scenery and historical structures were breathtaking. We came at just the right time because there was a parade with the military forces and we also got to see a town crier. This is definitely a place that you can spend a day’s worth.”

Aidan Wornall from Gibraltar said: “Gibraltarians are required to attend university abroad so I came over to visit the University of Chester.

“I came over for a visit and absolutely loved it and I hope to study geography BSc starting September.”

Desiree from Manchester said: “A lot of people have recommended me to visit Chester at least once because it's very picturesque.”

Steven Taylor from Lancashire said: “We chose to visit Chester because it's a beautiful historic city with plenty of things to do, restaurants and pubs.”
