A drama teacher at the Chester school where TV star Tom Hughes attended says many schoolgirls needed comforting when their relationship ended with him.

The Sunday People revealed that his co-star, and real-life girlfriend, Jenna Coleman is not the only woman to be smitten by Tom.

Chris Tierney, who taught him drama for seven years, said many schoolgirls needed comforting from female staff when their relationships with Tom ended.

Chris, head of drama at Upton-By-Chester High School in Cheshire, said Tom’s modesty was part of his attraction.

He said: “He broke girls’ hearts here. He wasn’t a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, just a guy who was very appealing and attractive to girls. They’d swoon in the corridors.

“Tom was very engaging. He’s very interested in you when he’s chatting. He doesn’t just talk about himself.”

The Rada-trained actor, who starred in legal drama Silk, is said to have broken up with live-in girlfriend Ophelia Lovibond to date Jenna.

A source said they kept the romance secret on Victoria so their professionalism was not questioned.

Previously Jenna was seen cosying up to Prince Harry at a polo match. But she insists they’re just good friends.

Million's have been glued to ITV ’s Victoria watching the queen, played by Jenna, and Prince Albert, Tom Hughes, both 30.

The chemistry between the couple, who are dating in real life, is so strong that Victoria is more popular than Sunday night rival Poldark.

This week ITV confirmed it will return for a second series.
