A Chester theatre company has  been awarded a grant from Arts Council England to pilot an innovative new drama project.

Minerva Arts and Warrington based Express Youth Theatre will collaborate with youth theatres across Cheshire for the Lynk Cheshire scheme which will bring youth theatre members across the county together to collaborate in an exciting week of Summer School.

Minerva's Artistic Director Steph Brocken came up with the idea to bring together youth after sharing stories of the old Cheshire Youth Theatre with her senior group at Minerva.

It had been a Cheshire County Council project that drew together young people participating in drama from throughout the county to work together to create a major piece of performance.

This summer's project begins with a residential session from August 23-24 at Tatton Park and continues with a week of intensive devising at 'hubs' in Chester and Warrington.

Young people from Cheshire West will be based at the usual Minerva venue at the University of Chester's Kingsway Campus and throughout the week the groups will share their work and contribute digitally to each other's performances.

The project concludes with performances on August 29.

Steph said: "We hope that in the future more groups will get involved and create different hubs each year. Minerva is now extending our call to young people between 12 and 17 in the Chester area who would like to take up a place on this project.

"There are very limited places on this project so please contact Minerva Arts via email at Minerva_arts@live.co.uk or phone on 07894858934 to
