CHRONICLE champion Hannah Jones had a right royal reception in London last night (Wednesday, August 31) when she came face to face with Prince Harry.

The 18-year old, who was declared Champion of Champions in the 2010 Trinity Mirror Cheshire/ ScottishPower awards, met Harry, third in line to the throne, at a reception at the InterContinental London Park Lane hotel before the presentation of the WellChild awards.

Hannah won the bravest child over 16 award for raising more than £140,000 for brain cancer charities, while undergoing treatment for a brain tumour herself.

“He was so down to earth and was interested in everyone’s story,” said Hannah, who will start a degree at the University of Chester in September.

She was nominated for the award by Luke Tillen, who runs the Torbay Holiday Helpers Network. Hannah and her family were the first to benefit from a holiday with the charity, which was formed in 2009.

The charity event would have been particularly poignant for Harry, patron of the WellChild charity, as it was the 14th anniversary of the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Full story with pictures will be featured in next Thursday’s edition of The Chester Chronicle.
