Save the Family, the Chester charity providing 24/7 accommodation and support to homeless and troubled families, was treated to a lunch funded and cooked by Rapid Relief Team (RRT).

The RRT crew brought their voluntary catering support team to Save the Family’s centre and cooked a lunch and provided live musical entertainment for families throughout the afternoon. RRT’s ethos is ‘community, compassion and support’ and is run on a not for profit basis by volunteers to support communities in times of need.

Save the Family’s marketing and business development manager Josie McLachlan said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Scott Hayward and the RRT volunteers. The lunch has been a super opportunity for families supported by Save the Family to enjoy quality time together at our centre. The RRT crew have been fantastic and we are very grateful to them for their support.”

Save the Family was created some 40 years ago and provides practical support and accommodation for homeless and troubled families from across the UK.

Most of the families living at Save the Family’s Chester centre have multiple, complex needs which often results in social isolation, marginalisation, worklessness, missed education and child poverty.

In a structured family, friendly environment, the dedicated Save the Family team mentor families to bring about significant, positive change in their lives to create positive futures.

Scott Hayward of Rapid Relief Team (RRT) said: “Rapid Relief Team volunteers share a unique passion to care for others, particularly those in need because of difficult circumstances etc. Our team feel greatly privileged to be able to provide this opportunity for all at Save the Family, and have prepared, cooked, and served 150 meals today, and we have all enjoyed it.

“We would like to pass on our thanks to the charity for their determined care towards affecting and improving the lives of others. RRT love to help all, and we look forward to working with Save the Family again.”
