Who would have thought that Santa and Rudolph would find time this weekend to nip into Chester city centre?

Will Pugh and Elliott Lush, both pictured, are sixth form students at Queen’s Park High School (QPHS).

They were busy raising the profile of the QPHS car park, which is now open every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas, as well as every day in the school holidays.

The car park at QPHS is operated by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

It’s an enterprising initiative that takes advantage of the school’s central location – just a few minutes on foot from the city’s shops, bars and restaurants.

Chair of QPHS PTA Mike Benson said: “The great value parking raises funds for extra-curricular activities that benefit all of the school’s students, such as the rowing club, the school production and the School Shakespeare Festival.”

But it isn’t only the students who benefit from the car park.

On Sunday, December 6, the QPHS PTA has pledged to donate all parking fees they receive from those taking part in the Chester Santa Dash , to be divided equally between the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Babygrow Appeal.

PTA committee member Lisa Jones added: “On Sunday, December 6 the car park will be open from 9am.

“We’re just over the bridge from the start point and we’ll be ready to give Santa Dash runners and supporters a warm welcome.”
