CUSTOMERS at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Chester had to be evacuated after 80 litres of diesel leaked from a roof-top generator through the ceiling and into the store.

Fire crews were sent about 4.10pm today (Thursday, January 22) to clear up at the Caldy Valley Road outlet in Boughton, while a powerful fan was used to ventilate the premises.

No specialist chemical appliances were dispatched. Nobody was harmed.
