GIANT-making workshops are being held for individuals and groups wishing to enter their creation into Chester’s Giant Carnival – dubbed the biggest giant carnival anywhere in the world.

Master puppeteer Hannah Wood is running the free courses which will teach you everything you need to know about how to take part in this summer’s extravaganza.

More than 100 giants will be taking to the streets on June 12 as part of the Chestival programme, with individuals, groups, communities and schools invited to join the workshops which will pass on all the skills required.

On Monday March 28, Hannah will lead the session ‘Make your own Giant’, on Wednesday March 30 she will teach people how to move and dance with their giant and on Thursday March 31 there is an open drum session to create that special beat to accompany the giant and its owner.

David Pickering, chairman of Chester the Giant City, is excited about what the carnival will bring to Chester.

He said: “Hannah is a unique talent and is coordinating the many groups coming from all over the world to take part in our Giant Carnival. For her to give up her time to help us create more local community giants is something very special and we are delighted to have her working with us.”

All workshops are being held at the Big Storage company on Sealand Road and run from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. For more information email Hannah@chesterthegiantcity.com.
