Staff and pupils at The Queen’s School in Chester got into the spirit of Children in Need with a range of activities to raise money for charity – which ended with an appearance on TV.

Parents and staff who undertook the Snowdonia Challenge went along to The Palm House in Sefton Park with some lower school pupils and joined in the North West celebrations on the BBC 1 programme.

Headmistress Sarah Clark was interviewed live on TV about the school’s fantastic fundraising efforts which have so far raised over £3,300, and the children were very excited to meet CBBC presenter Ben Shires, as well as Olympic Tai Kwando bronze medallist Bianca Walkden.

Earlier in the day staff and pupils at the senior school swapped dress codes for the day and held a chocolate raffle, while the lower school children raised hundreds of pounds with a spotty dress up day and cake sale.

The Snowdonia Challenge team raised £2,000 from their bike, climb and kayak challenge back in September.

Headmistress Sarah Clark said: “I am so proud of the pupils and wider school community for their fundraising efforts. Children in Need is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to learn that that they can have a real impact by being part of something bigger. I would like to thank our parents and pupils for their fantastic effort and support.”
