TALENTED racing star Seb Morris is to be the focus of a new series featuring Formula One hotshots of the future.

Seb, 16, a former pupil of The King’s School who now attends Abbey Gate College, is the focus of tonight’s Sky Sports F1 documentary Britain’s Next F1 Star, where he gets to meet and interview his idol, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Seb, named recently as a British Racing Drivers Club Rising Star, said: “I was so surprised when I had the chance to interview Michael. I was really shocked – we all were – when I got the call to say I needed to be at the Mercedes F1 team factory to meet Michael.

“I had a list of 20 questions and it was more of a conversation. I asked him about how he started out, how to adapt driving style and being successful. He told me ‘bend the rules to the limit and show no mercy!’.

“It was such a special moment for me, he’s been my idol all through my racing career.”

The USP-produced documentary also follows Seb’s life on and off the track.

Seb, a Ginetta ambassador and runaway winner of the 2011 Ginetta Juniors championship, added: “The great thing is it shows how hard young racing drivers have to work.

“It’s not just about rocking up to the track and driving a car, there’s a lot more to it and especially so when you’re trying to build a professional career toward F1.”

The Marford racing driver added he was delighted to be a pupil of Abbey Gate College.

“They have been absolutely fantastic, I am very grateful for the fact it has been very easy to get time off school so I can concentrate on motor racing in between my A-levels,” he said.

Seb has had a spectacular first season in open-wheel racing, taking pole position on his debut and winning second time out in the Formula Renault BARC championship.

Seb is one of six rising stars picked out by the documentary series. Other drivers featured include Josh Hill, son of 1996 world champion Damon Hill, and Alex Brundle, son of veteran F1 racer and commentator Martin Brundle.

The documentary will be shown tonight at 7.30pm and will be repeated on the Sky Sports F1 channel at the weekend. Seb will also enjoy further TV coverage when he competes in the final race of the Formula Renault BARC season at Silverstone on Sunday.
