Chester School Sport Partnership held its annual Tag Rugby Megafest for Chester primary school children in Years 3 and 4.
The event was held at Chester Rugby Club and saw 28 teams competing with 254 children taking part.
The pupils started off with a skills session run by coaches from CEPD, which included lessons on passing, tagging, positioning and running.
They then took these skills into a game situation where they played against other schools. Rugby leaders from Christleton High School helped to referee the matches.
Claire Smedley from Chester SSP said: “It was great to see so many children take part who had never played rugby before. The theme of the megafest is non-competitive and an opportunity for pupils to come and have a go.
“Several players from Chester Rugby Club ladies team came down to the event to cheer on the children. It was great to have their support and the backing of the club.”
