THE writer and director of the 2013 cycle of Chester Mystery Plays are keen to hear people’s tales of living in the city today.

Stephanie Dale and Peter Leslie Wild will be running workshops for adults interested in getting involved with the production which will be performed in the nave of Chester Cathedral.

The original medieval plays were created by and for the people of Chester and both are keen to reflect that in their 21st century version.

She said: “We will use writing and acting games to explore what life is like in the city today. The results will feed directly into my adaptation.”

Peter added: “We’ll also be recording some of the activities for the first ever Chester Mystery Plays podcast.”

Stephanie and Peter have collaborated on a number of projects together including a Birmingham Rep production Dealing with Dreams and plays for BBC Radio 4.

Mystery plays chairman Jo Sykes said: “We have a wonderful and extremely experienced artistic team and these workshops are the first steps on the way to creating the 2013 production.”

The four workshops will run from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20 and there is a maximum of 25 places on each.
