Chronicle supported children's charity Miles of Smiles held their annual sportsmans night last Thursday at The Slowboat restaurant in Chester.

Following a sumptuous Chinese banquet, the speaker was former Newcastle United and Coventry City striker Micky Quinn who enthralled the large crowd with tales of his footballing life.

After a game of stand up bingo and a rafflle the audience was then entertained by Liverpool comedian Gary Skyner.

The evening raised just under £2,000 for the charity.

Miles of Smiles would like to thank Francis and Nicky Ting and staff at The Slowboat for all their help and Mark Welsh for providing the PA. Also thanks to Madelaine Taylor, Brian Peers, Lee Coombes, Phil Thomas, Shane Pinnington and Clive Thomas for providing raffle prizes.

The event was once again sponsored by Paul Edwards of PME Aerospace Inspection Ltd.
