After visiting a dumpsite in Kenya during a gap year, Holly started off by raising £500 for some tin for the people she had met so that they could have roofs for their shacks, hence the name Raise the Roof.

Since then her and her team of volunteers have built a youth development and sports centre where 100s of children are now able to learn new trades such as crafts and agriculture, as well as business training to get the most out of what they make. They also sell some of their produce to help keep the centre running.
