A Chester man is recovering after being attacked by a gang outside Crewe station.

The victim suffered a broken eye socket in the savage assault.

The 44-year-old was walking along Nantwich Road near the railway station with two friends at 11pm on October 8.

They were approached by a group of people who then attacked the man.

He will require ‘ongoing hospital treatment’ for his ‘serious’ facial injuries.

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses to help track down the attackers.

Investigating officer Liz Rankin said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry.

“As a result of this assault the victim has suffered serious facial injuries, including a fractured eye socket, which will require ongoing hospital treatment.

“As part of my investigation I urge anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact the team here at Crewe so the offender can be brought to justice.”
