A 22-year-old from Chester now faces a total of 12 sex offence charges.

Nicholas Crawshaw, of West Street, Hoole , appeared at Chester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on October 20.

He was first charged in August with six counts of rape and two of sexual assault relating to two victims.

It is alleged they took place at properties in the Chester area on June 7 and June 14 this year.

A further four charges, two of rape, one of assault by penetration and one of sexual assault, were brought against the 22-year-old from two complainants regarding incidents in 2010.

Crawshaw has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A provisional trial date had been set for November 16, but this has now been put back to February 8 at Warrington Crown Court .

Judge Roger Dutton said: “As much as it would be in the interests of both the defendant and the complainants, in the interests of justice the initial trial date has now become impossible.”

Crawshaw will next appear for a plea and case management hearing on December 14.
