A Chester plasterer is putting his feet up after completing a gruelling 100km walk from London to Brighton.

Jimmy Lea, of Vicars Cross, took just 27 hours to complete the London 2 Brighton Challenge on Saturday, May 24 with his daughter Nadia Weigh and her friend Claire Harrison.

Jimmy, 55. has so far raised more than £2,500 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Dee Banks School and the Hannah Louise Jones fund at the Brain Tumour Charity.

He said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their support, kind words, encouragement and very generous donations.

“A special thank you to my lovely daughter Nadia Weigh and the other equally lovely little team member Claire Harrison for sorting everything out and for being such good company. Massive respect to both girls, I know they were in pain during the challenge. Last but not least a huge thanks to Mike Reynolds for being there so many times and for so many miles on practice walks.”

A spokesperson for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd said: “A huge thank you goes to Jimmy and his daughter Nadia, for their mammoth walk from London to Brighton raising nearly £1000 for the Hospice and more for other charities.”
