Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Handbridge, Chester, in which a man was attacked with a hammer and a metal pole.

The 38-year-old was chased along Queen’s Park View and then beaten in the front garden of a house. He was attacked with a hammer and metal pole, resulting in injuries to his head and arms.

Police say the incident occurred at 2.50pm on Friday, February 20, on Percy Road at its junction with Queen’s Park View. No details of the alleged perpetrator’s gender or description have been released. The condition of the victim has not been disclosed.

DC Kevin Green said: “This was an isolated incident and very much out of character for the area. Needless to say we are treating this seriously and would urge anyone with information, or who saw anything, to contact us.”
