CHESTER magistrates will decide whether the former lead singer of rock band The Stone Roses should be handed a driving ban.

Manchester singer Ian Brown, 48, who has notched up a series of top 10 singles both with The Stone Roses and as a solo artist, has pleaded guilty to driving at 105mph on the M6 on April 25.

Brown was due to appear before Chester magistrates on Monday but a guilty plea letter was sent to the court on his behalf, so the singer’s presence in court was not required.

Brown is represented by Nick Freeman, nicknamed ‘Mr Loophole’ for helping celebrity clients with driving offences.

Sentencing will take place in Chester on October 24.
