The Lord Mayor of Chester welcomed motorbike adventurer Nick Sanders and more than 100 big-hearted riders to Chester Lakes at the end of their charity brain ride.

Nick and the North West bikers got their motors running as part of The Great Brain Ride 2016 to raise more than £1,500 for The Brain Charity.

Nick said: “The day was a roaring success and it was an honour to cheered home by the Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Angela Claydon. The sight of 100 local bikers riding together on a sunny Saturday morning for such a vital cause gives me goosebumps. It was a fantastic effort by everyone and I’m looking forward to next year.”

The annual Great Brain Ride from Liverpool to Chester is organised every summer by Bikers for Neuro (BFN) and is supported this year by Chester law firm Birchall Blackburn Law.

BFN is a free to join motorbike club that raises awareness and funds for brain, spinal injury and neurological charities.

Coordinator for BFN Mike Hooper said: “A massive thank you to the Lord Mayor for taking the time welcome the riders to Chester; the bikers who took part; the bands who played during our evening event and wowed the crowds; and for the support of Birchall Blackburn Law - without them there would have been no breakfast butties or bedtime music!”

Partner and head of serious and catastrophic injury for Birchall Blackburn Law, Dianne Yates, said: “It was such a fun and inspiring day. Everyone I spoke to knew of someone trying to live with the devastating consequences of a serious brain injury. The day reinforced why we need charities like The Brain Charity who give people with a brain injury, and their families, the chance of rebuilding a good life.”

A huge thank you to Nick, Dave, BFN, Birchall Blackburn Law and all our local bikers who took part.”

The Brain Charity is a national charity based in Liverpool that offers emotional support, practical help and social activities for anyone with a neurological condition and to their family, friends and carers. It supports people with neurological conditions to live longer, healthier, more active lives.
