A TENNIS club is serving up free coaching this weekend.

Chester Lawn Tennis Club has upgraded its playing facilities by adding three new astro-turf courts and two hard courts at a cost of £65,000.

To mark the opening of the new courts, the Wrexham Road-based club is holding an open day with free tennis coaching for anyone interested improving their skills or taking up the game.

The open day will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday.

Club LTA coach Charles Applewaite and members will be on hand to give tips and advice to anyone who wants to play with mini tennis sessions organised for young children.

The club now boasts the largest number of outdoor tennis courts in the Chester area with eight astro courts (two of which are floodlit) plus two hard courts.

Club president Joan Lythgoe said: “This is a major investment by the club in the future of tennis in the Chester area and we hope it will encourage more people to take up the game.

“All ages and abilities will be very welcome.”
