Staff and pupils at The King’s School in Chester were honoured to welcome Olympic rowing medallist Chris Bartley back to the school.

Chris, who used to be a student at King’s, spent time at the Wrexham Road school during its recent open day where many existing and prospective pupils and their families had the opportunity to talk to the rower, see his medal and even get an autograph.

He went back to King’s a couple of days later to spend some time with pupils, from the youngest in reception through to sixth form students.

Chris also kindly agreed to attend both the junior and senior school assemblies, delivering a truly inspirational speech to them all.

Pupils had the opportunity to watch the London 2012 Olympic footage where Chris and the GB rowing team won their Olympic silver medal, and were also able to ask lots of question about his life, his commitment to rowing and his training.

Chris ended his visit with a trip to the River Dee with the King’s Rowing Club.
