Crack out the Factor 50 and fire up the BBQ, Chester and Ellesmere Port are set to be hotter than Ibiza by 2°C on Tuesday (July 19).

Mercury will shoot up to 30°C in the region, giving European holiday destinations like Ibiza a run for their money.

The Met Office is predicting 'clear blue skies and sunshine through most of the day', while experts at leading weather company MeteoGroup think it could even be the hottest day of the year so far.

A spokesperson said: "On Tuesday, it will turn very warm across the bulk of the UK with the highest temperatures of the year so far likely to occur."

But while much of Tuesday's weather will be bright and beautiful, it could soon turn sour.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for the North West of England, valid from 5pm on Tuesday, as severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region.

The worst of the thundery downpours are expected to hit early on Wednesday, eventually clearing to make way for another scorcher.
