A party of Chester Grosvenor Rowing Club members travelled to the impressive Waterman’s Guild in London to attend the annual British Rowing Volunteer Awards.

These awards are given by the governing body to volunteers throughout the UK who have been exceptional in their dedication and contribution to the sport of rowing.

The awards were presented by Ben Hunt Davis MBE, a gold medal winner in the Great Britain Eight from the Sydney Olympics.

The award recipients and categories were:

Coaching Team of the Year - Paul Turner and Chris Hudson for their work with the Henley winning crew

Volunteer of The Year - Sarah Armstrong, a committee member for 15 years, her contribution behind the scenes with procedures, fundraising, legal governance etc has helped drive the club forward to current heights

Lifetime Achievement Award - Colin Davies, after coaching novice men for 25 years and contributing to club life since joining 47 years ago.

Winning more awards than any other club in the country, Grosvenor captain Louise Tobias stated how proud she was of their success both on and off the water in the club’s 145th year anniversary year, adding it had been a truly memorable year with a win at Women’s Henley for the first time in the club’s history and so many members being recognised at a national level.
