THE Chester Grosvenor hotel is proud to be officially green after switching to a 100% environmentally friendly electricity supplier.

The luxury hotel now gets all its electricity from renewable sources, such as wind, tide and biomass power stations, since it has been working with Chester-based energy broker Power Solutions, which is based in Trafford Street.

The move makes The Grosvenor a green energy pioneer for the hospitality industry, as just 2% of UK energy is produced from green sources so, by committing to 100% renewable electricity, the hotel is directly supporting the research and development of alternative resources to fossil fuels.

Fiona McBurnie, the Grosvenor’s finance director, said: “We’re very proud that our electricity is from 100% green sources.

“It allows us to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit for the environment.

“By using Power Solutions in making the switch, we were also able to support another Chester company which is another plus point.”

Jeremy Taylor, managing director for Power Solutions, added: “We are thrilled to have assisted The Chester Grosvenor with their ongoing efforts to become a greener business.

“The hotel has recognised that not only is a switch to sustainable energy good for the environment it is also good for business in terms of reputation, new customers and a blooming green tourism sector.”
