CELEBRATING British food and domestic cooking at its best, is the 2010 Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle One Pot Cook Off competition, a competition that will see home cooks create dishes for all the family – in just one pot.

The competition’s aim, along with helping launch the Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival, is to highlight the best of British Food, while demonstrating that cooking home made food can be created simply, and is something that everyone can do.

Taking place within with the McDonald New Blossoms Hotel in Chester, Entrants are asked to send their recipe to the hotel explaining why they have chosen their dish in under 100 words.

Each dish must be cooked in 25-30 minutes, be for four people and uses only British ingredients and produce.

Entrants will be invited to cook their dish is the hotel kitchens under the supervision of the Head Chef. The winning cook will then cook their dish at the Chester Food drink and Lifestyle Festival and will get the chance to have their meal put on the menu of the Hotel throughout the festival.

The general manager of the McDonald New Blossoms Hotel, Kate Halewood, said: “We thoroughly enjoy running this competition and each year the standard keeps on getting better and better.

“This year we are looking for a dish that really pushes the boundaries and is creative, but makes use of all the wonderful and diverse produce we have here in Great Britain.”

Those wishing to enter need ask for terms and conditions from Kate Halewood at gm.blossoms@macdonald-hotels.co.uk and send in their recipes and entry by March 5. Finalists will be invited to cook at the hotel on March 20.

All entrants will be notified as to whether they have been selected.
