After a weekend of rotten weather and with more to come, a flood alert has been issued for Chester.

The Environment Agency put the notice in force for the River Dee catchment at 4pm on Monday (November 30) and said it could continue into tomorrow morning.

An alert means be prepared as flooding is possible.

High winds from Storm Clodagh had battered the UK across the weekend, including a roof collapse at the Forum Shopping Centre in Chester.

A metal roof collapsed on the steps leading from the Market car park up to The Forum shopping centre, Gateway Theatre and Crowne Plaza hotel

An air ambulance was also called when a jogger was hit by a falling tree branch in Christleton.

The River Dee catchment area affected also includes Aldford, Farndon and Pulford.

An Environment Agency statement said: "Heavy rainfall has fallen over the Dee catchment throughout the day.

"Rivers are reacting and will continue to rise this evening and into the early hours of the morning.

"We will continue to monitor and will update this message as the situation develops."
