Chester FC's home derby clash against their old foes Wrexham will be shown live on BT Sport, it has been announced by the channel.

The Conference fixture has been scheduled for Monday, September 22, and will kick off at 8pm.

Last season saw the Blues play out a 0-0 draw against Wrexham in front of 4,326 spectators.

Both derby games played between the clubs were the first non-league fixtures subject to 'bubble match' arrangements by Cheshire Constabulary and North Wales Police.

That meant that, as well as both games kicking off at noon on Saturday, opposition fans were forced to travel to the ground on coaches with a police escort.

It is unclear at this stage whether this season's fixture will also be a 'bubble match'.

Chester FC had mixed fortunes in front of the BT Sport cameras last season.

Highlights included a dramatic last-gasp 2-1 home victory against FC Halifax Town in February and a scrappy 1-0 win away at Dartford the following month.

However, their final-day 2-2 draw against Salisbury City in April, which at the time saw the Blues relegated, was also shown in front of the BT Sport cameras. But in an ironic twist, Chester were later reprieved when both Salisbury City and fellow relegation strugglers Hereford United were thrown out of the Conference over financial irregularities.
