A Chester family are gearing up to take on a charity challenge in memory of some very special people.

Mark and Liz Evans, who used to run Italian restaurant La Cantina in Boughton, were left devastated when they lost their 28-year-old son Daniel in March 2011.

They had already lost Mark’s sister Sue to undiagnosed heart disease, a cousin Robert De Cecco, and suffered further heartbreak when the family’s close friend Alison Connick died in 2014.

As a tribute to their beloved family members, the Evans’, along with their daughter Francesca and her partner David Hogan and dozens of other family members including Mark’s sister Helen and brother Rennie, will walk the Cornish coastal path this summer, in their memory.

Liz told The Chronicle that joining friends and family members to raise money for different charities was a way of trying to turn negatives into positives.

The charities the family are raising money for are MIND, British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support and Shooting Star Chase.
