Police are appealing for witnesses after a 39-year-old man suffered a fractured cheekbone when he was assaulted in Chester.

The incident took place shortly before 9pm on Saturday, September 12 in Forest Street.

Police say the victim was waiting in a queue for a taxi when he was approached by another man. The victim stepped away from the queue and was assaulted, sustaining a fractured cheekbone and bruising.

Officers are investigating the incident and appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed what happened, or seen anything significant, to get in touch.

They are also asking for anyone with any information regarding who is responsible to come forward.

DC Robert Marshall said: “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the queue waiting for a taxi at the time and have not yet spoken to police. You may have seen or heard something, which could assist with our enquiries, and I would urge you to get in touch.”

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has subsequently been released on bail pending further enquiries.
