Chester choir raises cash for charity

A Chester choir has celebrated in song with a summer concert and party.

Caldy Valley Voices’ concert Over The Moon raised money for The Chester Miscarriage Group, the choir’s named charity for 2016.

The event was followed by a buffet and a celebration of singing together.

Songs on a moon theme included Blue Moon, Paper Moon and that Old Devil Moon as well as African folk songs and youngsters from Huntington Primary School also entertained.

The choir started life three years ago as The Aldford Singers but changed their name as they grew and moved location from Aldford Village Hall to Caldy Valley Church and Community Centre in Boughton .

The mixed voice community choir, with more than 50 members, sing songs from a mixed genre of pop to classical music under the baton of musical director Will Hay and accompanist Jeremy Heald.

Providing concerts to raise money for charity, they are an inclusive, friendly choir who don’t hold auditions or require members to read music.

Choir rehearsals will start back on September 6 and future plans include Christmas carols at the Caldy Valley Centre, Three Taverns Festival at Llanarmon yn lâl, Songs For All Seasons at Caldy Valley Centre and Vivaldi’s Gloria at Chester Cathedral .
