The Catholic High School in Chester has begun a fundraising campaign to help with the development of an all-weather, flood-lit synthetic sports pitch, due to be finished by the summer. The first of these will be a comedy night on Friday, March 11, hosted by professional comedian Tony Vino.

Tickets for the over-18s event are available now for £10 from the school finance office. Tables of up to 10 are available and the bar will be open. Call 01244 981609 to book.

The Handbridge school has secured its first sponsors for the sports pitch with Urban Roots, Dataspire and BM Digital generously coming on board.

A fundraising cycle ride is also planned for July 2 this year.

The Broken Spoke Sportive will be limited to 75 cyclists who will depart Chester and follow a route through North Wales before crossing the border and finishing day one in Ironbridge.

Day two will see the cyclists depart and loop back through East Cheshire before arriving back in Chester, two days and 200 miles later .

To enter the event you require a minimum donation of £222 which includes all meals, bespoke Jersey and accommodation.
