Kingsley sculptor Tony Evans's design of a wise man and a camel for the nativity scene at Chester Cathedral

Chester Cathedral's latest addition by a Kingsley sculptor completes a spectacular nativity scene.

Artist Tony Evans has constructed the stunning design of the three wise men and a camel made from copper.

They can now stand alongside the nativity scene depicting Joseph, Mary, Jesus and a donkey which he sculpted for the cathedral in 2013.

Tony has lived in Kingsley for more than 15 years after being born and raised in Liverpool.

Vice dean Peter Howell-Jones said: “We're really pleased with them because we’ve now got the full scene.

“Tony is a local sculptor and his work is amazing, I think it will engage adults as well as children.

“The first set was very well received and I think these will be even more so, people who have seen them already have been bowled over.”

He added it was especially fitting to add the wise men two years later as this was how long their journey to find Jesus is believed to have taken.

The now complete copper nativity will be on permanent display at the cathedral and is intended to remind viewers of the true meaning of Christmas.
