Chester commuters using the A55 faced rush hour delays this evening (Wednesday, January 20) following a collision involving a motorbike and a car.

North Wales Police confirmed an accident took place between a motorbike and a car on the A55 eastbound at junction 33B.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said a young woman was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital but it is not thought her injuries are life-threatening.

Drivers were urged to choose an alternative route and police warned of long delays.

The car and motorbike collided on the Ewloe loop road off the A55 eastbound at Junction 33B. Police were in attendance and closed off the road.

Traffic was queuing on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 and the road was closed for about an hour and a half. The accident was near St David’s Hotel and traffic was diverted through Buckley.
