The award winning itravelsmart app for journey planning has now had more than 139,000 downloads since its launch last year in Cheshire West and attracts up to 1,000 new users each month.

The app has registered over half a million uses to date helping people plan their journeys and travel around the borough.

Bus timetables, cycle planning and park and ride information has been accessed for over 42,000 journeys. The most popular journey planning feature is ‘near me’ providing bus times going past the users’ specific bus stop location while on the move.

A new video has been produced to demonstrate some of the features of the app:

Map View – locating you on the map, showing train stations within the borough, bus stops and park and ride sites with a zoom and pan functionality.

Cycle Planner – Plan a journey from A to B using a range of route characteristics.

Public Transport Planner – select start and end points on the map or through the search feature and let itravelsmart plan your route. The App offers a clear results screen with routes plotted on a map or as a list.

Bus Timetables – list of departures, route numbers and times. A mix of live and timetabled information dependant on the coverage area selected.

City Car Club – find out where your nearest vehicle is located, the app links to the online booking portal to hire a car by the hour.

Bus Stop Damage – make your environment a better place. Share sights of vandalism and maintenance issues with the Council, the App helps to upload photographic evidence along with a short description.

The itravelsmart App won The Best Smarter Travel App award earlier this year, the award looked for an outstanding smarter travel mobile phone and tablet App or mobile website that makes effective use of the medium, providing accurate and timely information using accredited data sources.

Cllr Brian Clarke, Cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure, said: “The Itravelsmart app is proving a very useful tool for travelling around the borough. Whether using the bus, bike, train or car there are benefits of using the travel app for both commuters and leisure users while on the move.

“The video gives a good overview of the features available. The app is available to download free of charge from Google Play and the app store”
