Chester schools have been invited into the city centre branch of Tesco to take part in Farm To Fork Trails.

The trails are part of the Tesco Eat Happy Project which have been set up nationwide and are designed to help tackle children’s diet-related health problems and relationship with food.

The trails take place around the store and give the children a chance to go into the stores bakery and learn how to bake bread, show them the wonders of the fruit and veg section, and help them learn all about the wonderful varieties of fish and cheese.

Each trail lasts for two hours and a designated guide and colleagues across the store help the children discover where their food comes from through demonstrations, discussions and curriculum-linked materials.

So far the children from Tarvin Primary School, University Cathedral Free School, and St Martin’s Academy have visited the store and have had a great time touching, tasting, exploring, poking, smelling, and squelching various foods and having lots of fun around the store.

If your school would like to get involved with the project, call better service manager Nicola Tuffs on 01244 752907.
