New routes for Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Mobile Library Services will begin on November 21.

The new routes are the result of a review of the library service in 2014 and also a public consultation about the mobile library service, which took place during the summer.

The council’s Cabinet member for community and wellbeing, Cllr Louise Gittins, said: “As a result of feedback from residents some mobile library stops have been added back into the routes and others have been extended.

“We will now visit all stops every three weeks, instead of every four weeks, to bring the service in line with loan periods in static libraries.

“Our mobile library service offers a current and wide range of stock including adult and junior books and also audiobooks.

“With internet connectivity and access to the web-based library management system, customers have access to stock across the authority and are able to make reservations and update their accounts. Our mobile library staff can also provide online council information and an enquiry service.

“All our new routes will be reviewed every six months to ensure they remain responsive to demand.”

The following stops have been reinstated:

Burwardsley Post Office; Guilden Sutton - Moorcroft Crescent and Village Hall; Great Sutton shops; Hargrave Church; Huxley - Church Lane; Lach Dennis - Duke of Portland Public House (new location); Little Sutton - Naylor Court; Rowton - Holly Cottage; Wincham - Ashwood Park.

Stop times have been extended at the following locations:

Waverton shops; Davenham - Fountain Court and Firth Fields; Malpas - Craddock Court.

In Rudheath, the Spar Shops stop will be replaced by a stop at Comboy Drive. The Elton stop will be located at Elton Community Centre.

Where appropriate, residents entitled to the home library service can have books delivered to their home. The service can also support care and nursing homes and can be accessed by contacting any Cheshire West library.

The education library service offers a paid subscription service which is available to primary schools and Early Years childcare settings.
