There will be changes to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s libraries opening times during the festive period.

All libraries will be closed on Saturday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) and will remain closed for the bank holidays on Monday, December 26 (Boxing Day) and Tuesday, December 27.

In the period between Christmas and New Year, six libraries will be available for library customers – Chester, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Neston, Northwich and Winsford will be fully open on Wednesday, December 28, Thursday, December 29, and Friday, December 30. All other libraries will remain closed.

All libraries will be closed on Saturday, December 31 and will remain closed on Monday, January 2 for the bank holiday.

The council’s Cabinet member for health and wellbeing, Cllr Louise Gittins, said: “Six of our libraries, across the authority, will be open as usual during the festive period but don’t forget that you can search, reserve and renew items on-line, at any time of the day or night, on the council website. You can also find out more about the wide range of eResources available. A 24 hour telephone line for renewals is available too, by calling 0845 148 0 148.”

In addition, in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich, Winsford, Frodsham and Neston libraries on Wednesday, December 28, Thursday, December 29 and Friday, December 30, there will be staff from the council’s customer services team offering basic information and a selection of services.

All libraries will open again as usual from Tuesday, January 3 with the exception of Malpas, which will re-open on Tuesday, January 10.
