IF YOU are planning a small or large community event anywhere in the borough, free specialist help is available at a drop-in style workshop.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Safety Advisory Group is offering free support to groups on March 18 in Chester.

The Safety Advisory Group is made up of local emergency services and key council departments.

During the session, people looking to run events both large and small will be able to get advice from experts in a wide range of relevant areas, such as licensing, health and safety, environmental health, highways, insurance , as well as Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire Constabulary, and the Joint Cheshire Emergency Planning Team.

Event organisers will be offered advice and support on topics, such as requesting a road closure, writing a risk assessment, or compiling an event plan.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and recreation, said: “We are encouraging small and large community groups who are thinking about putting on an event, to approach us with any queries or problems they may have.”
