Organising a street party just for residents and neighbours is simple and you don’t always need a licence. Top tips for holding a party are to plan early and get yourselves organised.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has produced a guide to help communities organise their own street party in time for Her Majesty’s official birthday weekend (June 11-12). Just visit the council website and search for street party. Event applications should be made by April 29.

Cllr Mark Henesy, Cabinet member for environment and community, said: “Last June, more than seven million people got together in the UK for the Big Lunch. We’re hoping to involve as many communities as possible in celebrating The Queen’s 90th birthday.
“Street parties are a great part of British life and are a wonderful opportunity for our communities to come together and celebrate.
“Organising a street party is simple as long as you plan your event properly and you ensure that the whole community is aware of the event.”

Cllr Henesy added: “A large celebration event will be held in Chester city centre. Details will be available soon so watch this space.”
