Gusts of up to 50mph are expected across Cheshire West and Chester during a wet and windy Monday morning.

The whole of Cheshire is included in a Met Office wind warning valid from 9am until 6pm today (Monday November 30).

It comes after incidents of trees being blown down over the weekend in Chester Road, Little Stanney and River Lane, Handbridge , while a metal roof collapsed by the Forum shopping centre in Chester.

The warning states: “Southwesterly winds will increase later on Monday morning, with gales extending eastwards across Wales along with much of southern and central England, and severe gales likely on exposed western and southern coasts.

“Gusts of 50mph are likely inland whilst gusts of 60 mph will affect some exposed coasts in the west and south. Winds will gradually ease from the west on Monday afternoon. Please be aware of the risk of localised disruption to travel.”

The Met Office says a band of rain will move east across northern England on Monday morning and afternoon with wet snow possible on high ground.

The statement adds: “Across northern England the snow is expected to be restricted to hills above about 400 m. Drier conditions will spread east through the late morning and early afternoon.”

On Sunday many Chester households were left without water due to an electrical power dip
