A Cheshire service which helps disabled people to maintain their independence has received excellent feedback from its customers.

The latest survey reveals that customers of Shopmobility West Cheshire are positive about all aspects of the service, including opening hours, help from staff and volunteers, quality of the mobility equipment and value for money.

The service provides daily hire of easy-to-use mobility scooters and wheelchairs to enable people with mobility difficulties to access town/city centre shops and other facilities.

Further highlights from the survey show that all customers rate their experience of the service as ‘good’ or ‘very good’ and feel it has a ‘positive’ or ‘very positive’ impact upon their ability to stay independent and avoid isolation.

The survey also shows that the ability to get ‘out and about’ has a hugely positive impact on disabled peoples’ health and wellbeing.

There is a low-cost membership scheme for regular customers or alternative charges for visitors/occasional users, enabling use of shopmobility services at four locations across the Cheshire West and Chester area. A wide range of mobility aids (including wheelchairs, walking frames and mobility scooters) is also available for sale or longer term loan, in addition to a repair and maintenance service.

The Shopmobility service is delivered in accordance with a contract from Cheshire West and Chester Council by a partnership of local charities who involve volunteers in their day to day activities. The partnership is lead by DIAL West Cheshire (DIAL House) in Chester, which works with DICE Ltd in Ellesmere Port and Vale Royal Disability Services in Northwich and in Winsford.
