Eleven people from Ellesmere Port and Chester have completed a Coast 2 Coast cycle challenge from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in just three days.

The team of 11 cyclists set off for their 150-mile challenge on Tuesday, April 28, from Blacon Police Station as many of the team are Cheshire police officers.

Cheshire Constabulary has supported the challenge by holding charity events such as cake sales and dress down days at Cheshire police HQ.

Team member Tom Grant said: “We are completing the challenge to raise money and awareness for Autism Wishes, a local North West Charity.

“The charity is very close to the hearts of several members of the group due to their children growing up with autism.”

Due to the distance, support was needed as not all the members were your everyday, Lycra-wearing cyclist, so Arnold Clark kindly supported the cause and donated two vehicles for transportation.
