Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle will be flying high for charity next week.

The triple world champion, who won bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, will attempt a skydive to raise money for a charity close to her heart.

The former Queen’s School pupil will take her leap of faith in a tandem skydive on Friday, September 20 in Lancaster to raise funds for Alder Hey Hospital Children’s Charity in Liverpool.

She said: “I am a patron for Alder Hey and always like to be able to support them. They are such an amazing charity and do great work.”

This will not be Beth’s first flight of fancy. She has already been wing walking and has done an indoor skydive.

The reigning ITV Dancing on Ice champion said: “Obviously I am a little nervous but I am actually more excited than anything.”

And the sportswoman, who has spent much of her life in training added: “I don’t have to do any training - I can just turn up on the day!”

Alder Hey cares for more than 270,000 young patients each year, which could not be achieved without the support of charitable donations.

Beth’s target is to raise £1,500.
