Members of Cheshire Budo Federation have come together to raise money in support of a student.

Amir Behnejad, aged 14, who has trained at the club for over eight years, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia nine months ago.

Sensei Andy Travis decided that the club should show their support for Amir and organised a throw-a-thon across the group’s six clubs, which include Bunbury and Frodsham.

Sensei Andy was delighted this week to visit Amir at Alder Hey Children’s hospital to hand over three cheques, worth £700 each, to Amir’s three chosen charities– Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Teenage Cancer Trust and Clic Sargent.

Andy said, “I have been absolutely blown away by the response from our club members.

“We all worked hard but had a great time doing the throw-a-thon and we have raised £2,100 to support young people battling leukaemia and cancer.”

Andy went on to thank all the club members for their support and their family and friends for the generous sponsorship,

He added: “The club community has really pulled together to support Amir. I know the Behnejad family are delighted and so grateful to everyone who took part.”
