Members of Cheshire Ladies Luncheon Club have celebrated 20 years of fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

They marked the occasion with a special lunch at the Doubletree Hotel in Chester.

The lunches, organised by a voluntary committee since 1995, have raised more than £140,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Chairman Sheila Sheedy, said, “Our quarterly lunches are attended by more than 200 ladies from across the county at prestigious venues throughout Cheshire. It’s thanks to their support that we have been able to raise this incredible total.”

Cancer Research UK’s senior fundraising manager for Cheshire Paula Jones, said: “I would like to thank the Cheshire Ladies Luncheon Club for the massive contribution they have made to our vital work over the past 20 years.

“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
